ABOUT

The Right Here, Right Now Global Climate Center (RHRN Center) is a new global hub—supported by United Nations Human Rights and the Right Here, Right Now Global Climate Alliance (RHRN) - dedicated to empowering the next generation to lead the fight for climate justice. Founded by Boulder native and CU Boulder graduate David Clark, the Center is built on the belief that education is one of the most powerful drivers of systemic change.

The Center expands a global learning ecosystem that began at the inaugural 2022 Right Here, Right Now Global Climate Summit hosted by UN Human Rights and CU Boulder. Its work now includes developing K–12 curriculum, building university-level academic offerings, and creating an open-source digital portal where institutions worldwide can contribute and access climate-justice coursework. This shared platform will enable educators, students, and universities to collaborate across borders and scale meaningful climate education.

Supported by a global alliance that spans law, economics, technology, the arts, public policy, and human rights, the Center embraces a fully multidisciplinary approach - engaging colleges and academic fields far beyond environmental studies. This holistic model ensures the Center can mobilize scientists, artists, engineers, business leaders, lawyers, and storytellers alike. It is this cross-sector, collaborative design that sets RHRN apart from traditional siloed efforts and enables it to drive systemic change at scale.

To further its academic mission, the Center will periodically stage global thematic summits that bring together youth leaders, scholars, advocates, and institutions to advance climate and human-rights solutions worldwide. These convenings will also draw additional UN agencies and leading NGOs, strengthening the global coalition supporting climate-justice education and expanding the reach of the Alliance. These summits complement the Center’s educational programs, including the annual RHRN Future Prize and the forthcoming RHRN Fellowship, both designed to nurture emerging leaders around the world.

To advance this global convening mission, the Center will work closely with scholars at Saïd Business School, University of Oxford, to help stage the annual RHRN Global Youth Climate Summit each June 5th on UN World Environment Day. The most recent youth summit brought together young leaders from 55 countries, and it is expected to grow into the world’s largest climate-justice summit for youth.

Through the rapidly expanding Right Here, Right Now University Coalition - now more than 2,300 institutions strong, the Center seeks to elevate the City of Boulder as a rising global hub for climate-justice education, innovation, and youth empowerment, creating an extraordinary opportunity for local institutions to help lead a movement shaping a more just and sustainable future.
